- The old man was allegedly killed after intervening in an argument between some Customs officers and some youths - The spokesperson for the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Command, said no officer in his command was involved in the incident A septuagenarian and farmer from Olorunda village, Lamidi Oke, Oyo state was reportedly shot dead on Monday, May 21, by trigger-happy Customs officer. Lamidi, 70, was allegedly shot dead by the officer while he was trying to intervene in an argument between some Customs operatives and youths in the community over a barrier erected on a road within the neighbourhood, The Punch reports. It was gathered that the villagers put up the barrier, two poles on both sides of the road with a bamboo placed across them, to curb the recurring accidents caused by reckless motorists plying the route.
